SAT Subject Tests

I got my scores back today, and I got a 660 on US History and 670 on Literature. I know these scores aren’t great, but should I submit them anyways? Basically what I’m asking is, is it better to submit subject tests with relatively lower scores or not submit any at all (for Georgetown)? I also plan to retake the two tests, so this is in case I still don’t do well the second time around.

Georgetown doesn’t participate in score choice so you actually have to send all your scores, regardless if you want to send them or not.

but how do they know if you don’t send them all?

@BigPapiofthree Even if they don’t, you don’t want to run the risk of them finding out and rescinding your acceptance.

I know for early action there’s something interesting where they don’t actually require subject tests, but I’m not exactly sure what that situation is so you would have to look into it.

  1. They won't know if you don't send them.
  2. Those scores aren't that bad. I got in with scores of 770, 640, and 610.

Here is what I would do in your situation. Take 2-3 more, maybe even retake one of those (history is easier to study for probably, lit is more you either have it or you don’t generally speaking). Aim for 720+ scores. 750 is great, 780 even better, 800 woohoo, but don’t stress about perfection - 800, 2400, 36, 5 on all APs robots get rejected annually, so just focus on getting in the ball park range for now.

After taking those 2-3 more, evaluate your situation. You can do EA and send none of them if they’re all bad, do EA and send the best ones (they really won’t find out, the odds of rescinding a hypothetical acceptance on that basis are historically less than 1%), or do RD and send them all. They DO consider your 3 highest, even when you send all, but I would cloud the EA pool with bad scores that needn’t be there. EA is wonderful since it’s not restrictive like at HYPS, and you could apply to many programs EA. If you are deferred EA (can’t be rejected) THEN send as many scores as needed to send a total of 3 to remain admittable, unless you already sent 3. I hate that GTOWN requires 3 (not even MIT/Stanford/the Ivies do) but just go with it and don’t stress. It is one component of one section of your application.
