I asked the Harvard Admissions officer if it mattered that which SAT Subject tests I took. He said it does not matter one bit. Can I then assume that Math I and Math II will count? (He said ANY 3 subject tests will count no matter the subject)

The reason I ask this is because I received 760 math I, 760 math II, 710 Chemistry, and an atrociously low Spanish with listening score. The
Admissions rep said the Spanish with listening won't be counted because they only take the top 3 tests. Should I not worry about it? (I'm applying EA so no time to retake Spanish, and it is really a very low score, by anyone's standards)

They way I see it is that the two math tests focus on different types of math.

Rd, we just discussed this question very, very recently on a thread called "Sat II- not enough variety?" You should check the archives before you ask these questions- it makes the board less repetitive.

^^ Agreed. The admissions rep already told you that "it does not matter one bit". So why do you need the reassurance of random people on an internet forum?!?

it's this whole counting math I and math II as two tests thing; he told me I could take any two tests at all...I'm wondering if my math I and math II will both actually count as two tests.

^That's not true. A lot of schools say they don't take Math I + Math II. But they might take them if you're desperate because most schools are pretty understanding anyway.

Even when you're taking your subject tests, you can't sign up for both Math I and Math II in the same sitting, so you know how closely related they are....

But if the admissions officer said it was fine, then it's fine =)

This is actually not true. Like rd31, I took both Math tests in the same sitting.

Your proctor was wrong, but I do think it's a common misconception. Since most schools (but not Harvard!) don't allow or advise against using Math I and Math II as two separate subject tests, most people only take one Math test. My GC insisted that I wouldn't be able to take both... but I signed up for both, and took both. So HA to him. =P
