SAT subject tests

should I put that I got a 770 in Chinese on my application? because that's like 28% percentile

I have three others--700 in lit, 760 in math 2, 800 in world history--so would it be better to omit the Chinese score? colleges only want 2-3 right?

a 770 is 28th percentile? If so, I might think about not putting it, but colleges want to see math/foreign language SAT subject tests and a 770 is very good

i'd say use world history and math 2. anything other than 800 on chinese is disgraceful.

Chinese under 800 looks bad since most people get 800. I would do history and math 2.

Good Luck

ok thanks

but do you think the colleges look at the score anyway because when you send your score report, they see all the scores on it?

if a school requires two, they'll look at your highest two. if they require three, they check highest three.

so, depends on the school.

Well you shouldn't not put a score just because it's a low percentile.

For example, if you are not a native speaker and you learned Chinese on your own or through your school, then a 770 is very impressive. Colleges will take into account the context of your score. But regardless, if you are only planning on putting down 2 scores for the application, you should put down two subjects that are more indicative of your education (for example, math or other academic courses). Languages are great, but I wouldn't put them down as my top 2 or top 3 just because if you are already speaking the language at home, taking the SAT 2 for it and getting a high score doesn't really mean anything.

Sure, colleges will get your complete score report, but they won't be scrutinizing over all of your SAT scores. They have better things to do.
