SAT Subject Tests

How many does Brandeis require/reccommend ?

Thank You.

Don't take this personally, but it never ceases to amaze me how little effort kids today seem to be willing to put into what is one of the most important decisions they will make in their life.

I found this in about 30 seconds:

Application On Line Instructions

i went to an information session, and i'm pretty sure i was told that they will not require them, this year. don't quote me, since i also visited Boston U, and the information sessions run together.

there is no mention of sat subject tests on this "appying to brandeis" site -- Brandeis Admissions | Applying | What We Look For

perhaps they have changed their requirements? but why in the world would you rely on postings on a forum such as this for such an important question? especially since their website seems to have conflicting info (perhaps they didn't update one of the pages?).

call their admissions office -- that way you will know you are getting the correct answer.

I am using the COmmon Application and thus, I missed that link, thanks.

I emailed the admissions office about this, but I posted here also (i haven't gotten a response back, but when I do, I will post.)

Thanks anyhow.

They're not requiring SAT II subject tests for admission this year. Since it's a change in requirements, there's all sorts of old information scattered around the web that the admissions office is trying to fix.

I would recommend taking them. Why not? The worst thing that could happen is you don't do well and won't send them in. On the other hand, if you do score well, they may give you some small advantage.

I called the admissions office to ask about SAT subject test and they are NOT required

SOZE Don't take this personally, but it never ceases to amaze me how little effort kids today seem to be willing to put into what is one of the most important decisions they will make in their life.

I found this in about 30 seconds: THIS INFO IS WRONG YOUR SITE WAS FOR THE 2011 CLASS. I JUST CALLED BRANDEIS AND THEY WERE AMAZED THAT THIS SITE WAS STILL UP!YOU MUST HAVE BOOKED MARKED THIS SITE A FEW YEARS AGO AND NEVER UPDATED YOUR INFO. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD PUT MORE EFFORT INTO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE GIVING OUT ADVISE

spsdds:
You're kinda missing my point.
I was applying to colleges 30 years ago, so it's not really my gig to find out requirements for current applicants.

The point I was making is that current applicants ("the kids") are not really putting forth much effort for their application process.

That being said, your point is well taken. I can't assume that the info online is still valid.

Therefore all questions should be directed to the admissions office of the college or university of interest. Remember requirements do change from year to year. If giving advise please keep current

Hi!I am an international student who wants to transfer to Brandeis university. My question is whether it is more advantageous to send Subject Test scores. My scores are:
World History -- 760
Math 1 and 2 --630

I have already sent them a Reasoning Test score. But will have to pay additional amount of money for Subject Test scores. Can anyone knowledegable about Brandeis admissions help with this question?

The thing is that they require only SAT Reasoning Test results for transfer admissions.
Thanks for those who are willing to help...

I was a little miffed because I applied using the Brandeis Application under the assumption that it was free to apply if you use it (which was stated during summer/fall when I was using the application and filling it out). I put in extra effort to use the Brandeis App, submit it, and then it charges me a $50 fee, which was the exact same fee as the one the Common App requires.
Bleh.

Why do they still have the Brandeis App?

Well, it is a good news for me =) No waste of money. So, can anyone give some insight into the Subject Test policy for transfer students? The application deadline is the 1st of April, would it be okay if I sent it now?

Anyone? It is not required but is it recommended?

Hi Adaliya,

You can send in your application now if you'd like. That way you'll have plenty of time before the deadline in case you encounter any problems. As for the SAT II subject tests, we'll look at them if you send them in, but it's completely optional for you to do so.

Admissions Counselor
Brandeis University

Thanks for your reply, Mr.Jeff Wong. As an international student, I greatly appreciate all the important work accomplished here. Greetings from Kazakhstan :)

Mr. Wong,
I would appreciate your opinion on the SAT subject tests. My daughter did well on the literature SAT II (770) but not well on the Chemistry (610). Is it better to not send either of these. She excels in English/Writing, etc. and has done well in Honors Chem and is taking AP chem this year.

Her SAT I’s were okay - 2150

Any suggestions are appreciated.

wouldn’t you send in lit then and not chem? If you send one, do you have to send two?
