SAT Subject Tests

I just got my results back from my SAT II's and I'm kinda worried. I got a 800 on Math II, so no problem there, but my Chem score was a whopping 690, and now I'm convinced that I just lost Rice. Anyone wanna make me feel better (or significantly worse)? What did y'all get on your Subject Tests?

This information was recently posted in the Rice Admissions web site for the Class of 2009.

lots of interesting stuff on it - I wish more colleges had this!

yeah, i feel like i just hurt my chances as well. 660 on physics :frowning:
at least i got a 710 on math2 and 700 on us history earlier this year.

That list was actually extremely comforting. I got great scores, but they were low percentiles. Turns out they are either above or barely below average for Rice.

honestly, it doesn’t matter, don’t complain, I had a 650 on chem and I sent it anyway haha

Don’t worry… it is not going to kill your chances. I got a 660 on Math 2 (I re-took it and got a 780) and a 680 on physics, and I got in. Rice, along with EVERY SINGLE top 20 university, is holistic in their admissions process. Test scores are only one component. I do understand your worries though: at this point last year, I was afraid my test scores were going to hurt me. After going through the complete application process, I can tell you that test scores, while very important, don’t make or break your application; it really comes down more to things like essays, recs, and depth of involvement in extracurriculars.

Good luck!
