My daughter is interested in applying to BU School of Fine Arts, but has not taken SAT subject tests or the ACT. The SFA ‘recommends’ 2 subject tests if you have not taken the ACT. Does anyone know how much weight is put on these tests? Does anyone know of any current BU students who were admitted w/o subject tests or ACTs? If so, did said student(s) receive any merit aid?

I called admissions with this very question and they told me if you don’t take the ACT w writing, you need 2 subject tests. But i was interested in engineering. You should call and talk to admissions counselor.

You can get the answer from the school’s website:

Q: I didnt take the SAT Subject Tests; what can I do?
A: The only thing that can replace the SAT Subject Tests is the ACT with Writing test. If you have not taken the SAT Subject Tests, or the ACT with Writing, your application will still receive a complete review by the Board of Admissions; however, it may be less competitive in comparison with students who have completed our application requirements.

Hope that helped!

Thanks torture. I missed that.
