sat subject

My D is going to apply Upenn ED liberart arts or undecided, but she got very bad sat subject test in math2 670, her literature is 750 and sat 1540 (math 790, englisg 750), act 33. will she get 0 chance with this sat subject math score?

Also she is a vasity team swimmer but not fast enough to be recruited. She has a lot of leadership and service hours.
is sat subject test a big thing for non wharton applicants?

Since Penn doesn’t require subject test scores (only recommends), I would just send the 750. I don’t think sending the math ii score will help her case. In fact, it would probably hurt her chances. But I wouldn’t stress too much about the subject test scores. Her SAT score, essays, extracurriculars, and GPA will play much bigger roles.

thanks plzacmtwbs!

if she submit only ONE SAT Subject Test score when they recommend 2, will she be on disadvantage situation?

IMO, if she only submits one Subject Test, she will be at a disadvantage. However, if she submits 2 Subject Tests, where one is a 670, she will also be at a disadvantage. Which is more of a disadvantage? Well, that’s the $72,584 question.

Penn, like many of its peers, will evaluate the application holistically. Subject Test scores are but one part of the application.

That said, unless your daughter is legacy, I would forgo ED to try to get a better Subject Test score and apply RD.

Will sending a 670 or only sending one result is 0 chance of admission? No. The best way to have 0 chance is not to apply, but I would still want to present the best package possible.

I agree with Ski. In a college admissions process, every element of the application will either help or hurt one’s chances. Sending one SAT II score will obviously not help your daughter’s chances, so it will put her at a disadvantage. This is especially true when she is competing with many applicants that will be sending 2+ subject test scores with 800’s. Having said that, most applicants have one or two flaws in their applications. So as applicants we just need to highlight our strengths and try to make up for the flaws.
