My son is considering taking the SAT Chinese subtest in february. Since he will have already submitted his application will the results of this be considered in his application? In essence are any tests or information considered after the Jan deadline?

If his application is already in I assume he applied early decision. The school will notify ed applicants around 12/20 so a test taken in February would not be considered. If the student is not accepted early decision they are notified whether their application will be deferred and considered for regular admission (in which case the Feb test would be used) or the ed application could result in a refusal (there are others words for this) and the student will not be a part of the regular application process.

Windy, He did not apply ED, he is planning on applying regular admission. So if I understand the Feb test would be considered?

According to the Amherst website:

Testing should be completed by the deadline under which you apply. For regular decision applicants, the results of January testing may not reach us in time to be considered. /quote

Since they say that the January testing may not reach them in time for RD, I doubt that February tests would.

chinese has a crazy curve anyway -if you get 800, you've attained the 65th percentile :)

Yeah, but the January tests could make it though?

As far as I know, Chinese is only offered once a year, in November...

Amherst's Official Response to my email: "Yes, you may send us your SAT II scores. There is no need to rush them. This is not frowned upon. They will consider the highest scores."
