SAT Superscoring

Hello CC,

I am currently a Canadian student in grade 12 who is looking to apply to a few selective US colleges/universities. On my first SAT I in May, I received a composite score of 2240: 710 writing, 800 math, and 730 reading. I was very satisfied with my math score, but I wanted to improve my writing and reading scores. All of the schools I am applying to superscore SAT results; therefore, during my preparation for my second SAT I earlier this month, I focused exclusively on writing and reading. When I received my scores today, I saw that there were vast improvements in those two sections: I got 790 writing and 760 reading, giving me a superscored composite of 2350. However, my math result also dropped drastically to 680.

I have read that while some colleges superscore, they also look for trends across multiple testings. Therefore, would my new math mark negatively affect me? Or will the admissions only look at the superscored composite?

Thank you for your help.

Some colleges do indeed superscore. Here’s a link to see the colleges that superscore: https://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat-score-use-practices-list.pdf
