SAT taken in 10th grade is not obsolete, right?

Last year, my daughter took the SAT (with essay) and got a 1540. It is the only SAT she ever took. She did take the PSAT a few months ago and will probably get a national merit scholarship. We assume the colleges will take an SAT score from her 10th grade year. It wont be obsolete, right? We have no intention for her to retake it.

@silverpurple our dd19 took the SAT only once, as a sophomore (october 2016). She has applied to many colleges and the SAT test date was not a problem. She is a NMSF as well.

No problem. You just need to make sure that the SAT she took was within 1 year of her PSAT if you want to use it as the confirming score for NMF.

Excellent, i wish her all the best with her acceptances.

You assume correctly. Congrats to her on a great score.

Yes. Colleges will consider that score.

This is a direct quote from CMU website (standardized requirement section). I personally think it’s crazy, but …

Only test scores from junior or senior year are acceptable. Test results from the junior and senior year are the best indicators of a student’s current ability and potential for immediate success at Carnegie Mellon.

@mathKids interesting. We did not read the websitw carefully
@silverpurple, my daughter has applied to CMU. will keep you posted.
