SAT Taken in Middle School, On Record

Hi all,

I took the SAT in middle school, and saved it on my permanent record (for CTY, and other camps pre-high school). It’s a pretty good score for a 7th grader (almost 2000).

I also took the SAT this past fall, and scored something I’m very satisfied with.

Many colleges that I’m applying to request that ALL high school scores be sent, but don’t approve of Score Choice. So I have two options: I can select my most recent score, and not the 7th grade score, hence using Score Choice… would colleges just disregard my use of Score Choice? Or will they think that I’m purposefully hiding a score? Do they even see if we use Score Choice?

My second option would be to just send both scores. I’m a little wary of this because 7th grade seems a little early to most people.

Do you think my sending the 7th grade scores as well will hurt my chances for any school?

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Nobody will care. Lots of kids take the SAT in 7th grade; it’s not unusual.

I think you should follow the school policy. If you feel uncomfortable with the score/that it was in 7th grade, just attach a note with your common app that says you took in 7th grade for CTY.

Actually, I don’t think that the CTY SAT is even on your record because the scores are not sent to your school, just CTY. Your high school doesn’t even know what you got (I took it in middle school too).

Colleges understand CTY programs and early testing and will not look askance at your scores. Some colleges even mention middle-school scores as an exception to their No Score Choice policies. When in doubt, though, send all of your scores. There is no reason for you to be concerned.

Agree, it is not an issue at all. The score will have the date next to it so it should be obvious when you took the exam.
