Hi I wanted to know how much does Hopkins care about SAT scores? how many SAT II's should I have, and are there any specifics that I should take?
Does Hopkins look at a student as a whole, or base its decision on numbers--gpa, sat, rank, etc?

Also how generous is the school on financial aids? if I apply ED, will I be offered a fat aid, if my family makes around 50k?

Thank you in advance!

The best way to predict the aid Hopkins will give you is to fill out, very thoroughly, the estimator.

Thanks AdamJaz…I got like 50000 $ aid!!! so ok. If I love this school, what kind of student are they looking after?

Depends… I don’t really know what type of student they look for. A good one I suppose. Search the forums for other people’s opinions.

Make sure you put everything into the aid calculator properly. Bear in mind the first 3500 of aid will be loan your freshman year, followed by 4500 during sophomore year, and 5500 junior and senior years. They will also give you a 2500$ work study grant, likely. But congrats anyways, 50k is a nice amount!

Also bear in mind the Hope Scholarship tax credit… even if your parents aren’t liable for taxes, you can still get a refund of up to 40% of what your Hope credit would be.

So, first 2000 your parents pay to college or college expenses counts 100 percent to the hope credit; the second 2000 counts as 25 percent. So, if your parents contribute 4000, you get a 2500$ tax credit. Laptops also fall under the Hope credit, iirc.
