My 7th grader is scheduled to take the SAT this saturday. What will we need to bring?
I have the following so far:
- test admissions ticket
- calculator, pencils, eraser
- water and snack
- Will we need to bring a school photo ID or something?
Just want to make sure we’re not missing anything.
Face covering.
If under 13, (&& deleted incorrect info that photo ID is not required &&). The ticket also shouldn’t have a photo on it, if registered as under 13.
A watch is handy to be able to track time without having to look around the room. A clock may not even be visible. Just be sure it makes no sounds - no alarms, no stopwatch/countdown, no beeps on the hour, etc. And just an ordinary watch - no smart watches or anything that can record, play, calculate, etc.
A backup calculator, if available. Keep it in a bag/under the seat, and notify a proctor that it needs to be accessed, if it is needed.
And to answer a question that often comes up 13 days later…call the College Board number and tell them you are calling to obtain the scores for a student under 13. As you can’t establish an online account(unless it’s changed in the last few years), the charge to obtain a score by phone is waived. After 8am is often long enough to wait.

@RichInPitt Thank you - all points noted.
Such a pain to call in for everything! Ugh.
I shouldn’t have gone from memory. Photo ID is required. It’s the photo on the admissions ticket that wasn’t required. You can also used the registration confirmation from a talent search program, if that was used to register. But I’d always have a photo ID ready - folks doing registration may not be familiar with the under 13/8th grade variances.
(But I think you got that from my Reddit post, which reminded me to go back and fix it here…)
We did all registration by mail, so phone was only a quick call for the score. I don’t know if mail registration is even available anymore.
