sat to act conversions...

it seems to me as if the ACT score is regarded much higher than the SAT score. for example, I scored a 2010 on the SAT's, which when converted to an ACT score, is a 30.5 (which rounds up to a 31). People on this site are always telling me to shoot for a 30-32 on the ACT for the schools i want to go to, but I've already hit that goal. It doesnt make sense to me how people tell me my 2010 isnt good enough, but a 30-32 is.

It’s because you’re rounding up instead of rounding down. You’ve already outscored a 30 on the ACT but you haven’t outscored a 31, so it’s silly to round up for you. Because a 31 is approx. a 2040 which, if I’m not correct, is higher than your 2010.

A 31 is actually the equivalent of a 2070 and a 2010 is a 30 if you want to concord to single scores (rather than a range) using the tables on the collegeboard website.

Using the percentile method, which appears the most accurate at this time, a 31 is around a 2060-2110. A 30 is a 2000-2040 i’d say.

The table didn’t come out right here, but hopefully you can understand it:
