SAT today 1/24 Proctor

kind of hard when even a few seconds are crucial on this test…

Here’s the list of prohibited items from the Collegeboard site [SAT Test Day: What to Bring](College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools) :
What Not to Bring to the Test Center

You may not bring the following items into the test room:

* Cell phone, pager, personal digital assistant, iPod, MP3 player, and any other digital or electronic equipment.

 • Scratch paper
 • Notes, books, dictionary
 • Compass, protractor, ruler, or any other aid
 • Highlighter or colored pencils
 • Portable listening or recording device (unless you’re taking a Language Test with Listening)
 • Camera or other photographic equipment
 • Separate timer of any kind or watch with audible alarm

From the above list, it looks like those little foam ear plugs construction workers wear without any cords might be fine at some testing centers, but I wouldn’t chance it with any kind of headset or plugs with cords that may look like you could be plugged in electronically.

If your daughter’s a senior, then there won’t be any other chance to take the SAT again, so reporting won’t make a big difference. Plus, it probably didn’t have a huge impact on her score. I agree the test administrator was very unprofessional, but reporting may just be a waste of time…

The thing that sucks is that this was your last opportunity to test and it got screwed up. They can offer you an apology and a retest, but they can’t turn back time.

You should always start taking SATs in your junior year, you really don’t want to wait until the last possible minute like this.

Thank you all for responding. I did send a complaint to the college board. Maybe they can prevent this woman from doing this again. The test admins are paid $15/hr so it definitely is not volunteer work. Yes we are late in taking this very important test and I understand those comments but no one knows a person’s personal/financial situation. I have two other children who were never given this chance and all of a sudden with my third, I am able (although late) due to some assistance. We are praying for a decent score…Good Luck to all on their own tests.

good luck, i’m sure your daughter did fine.
