Well in particular, I'm going to be going to my friend's cotillion tonight and I probably won't be able to sleep until 11ish if I leave early (trouble is I am part of her cotillion court so it will be difficult to leave). Now I'm thinking that's fine since I'm waking up at 6:15am and it shouldn't be a big deal. An hour or two of lost sleep isn't a biggie to me considering if I were to get fatigued and tired, it would be in the late afternoon.

How do you feel about this whole notion of "get plenty of sleep"?

I think its essential. Especially because its so early in the morning (even earlier if you live far away from the testing sight) and because the SAT is 4 hours. You really don't want to fall asleep during the SATs. Try to get home as early as you can. For me 11 is alright but tonight I'm sleeping at 9 just in case. Have fun at the Cotillon but remember your SATs ;-)

You can't learn too well if you sleep deprive yourself. For example, you practice a tennis serve for 3 hours and you sleep for 12 hours, your brain has 12 hours to reinforce that serve. Yeah sleep is definitely important, just don't go under 7. Sleep heals your body, but don't be drowsy in the morning. Get warmed up in the morning, get alert, and do some reading in the morning(read some articles) to get yourself ready to read for the next 4 hours.

Haha thank you. I think 11 is fine too. Once it starts getting to like midnight or 1ish then I would start to get worried. Coffee for me in the morning like always.. lol! Any other takes on getting "plenty of sleep"?

My take on getting "plenty of sleep" ? It's great, if you can actually fall asleep.

^^^ Agreed. It's gonna be a loongg night full of angst :

The whole idea of "sleep = good grades" is a huge, steaming pile of crap. Just go to sleep at the same time you always do. You're going to be tossing and turning for a while, but resting, for all intensive purposes, is really the same as sleeping. Notice how when people say "get 10 hours of sleep," they don't calculate how long it actually takes you to fall asleep and then have you go to bed that much earlier than 10 hours.

Haha yeah that's real. I got through junior year, the most stressful year of my life in high school, lol, without the whole "eight-ten hours of sleep thing." For me, the sleepiness doesn't kick in until late afternoon. And whenever I get "too much sleep" it's a lot harder for me to get up.

It also helps that I'm a morning person. I can get like 4 to 5 hours of sleep and wake up at the same time with no problem. But I'm shooting for at least 7 hours tonight. I'll try to get home early.

don't oversleep though

get 7-8 is good... anymore could hurt you more than help you
