SAT Tutor/Prep

I've done plenty of reading in the Xiggi advice thread and after reading the various viewpoints I believe that I could benefit from private tutoring or classes. I've already ruled out PR/Kaplan but I found one company that seemed promising on google. Here is the link and if anyone could give me some advice on this company or any others (individual tutors would be great too, I'm just having trouble getting recs) in Orange County that'd be great. Thanks.

Tutoring = BAD STUFF!

Xiggi method = Bad stuff + good stuff.

I seriously disagree with Xiggi's advice on how one should not learn vocab for the SATs. Be prepared to learn around 200-300 words for the sat. Grab a high frequency wordlist, like the one in Princeton Review's Cracking the New SAT or Rocket Review's high frequency wordlist. These should have under 500 words for you to learn. Don't just memorize random words.

Xiggi's good advice
Grab the blue book and collegeboard online course. Do each problem and review each with explanation. Just through pure repetition, your score will improve.

Tutoring is so bourgeois. Why waste money when the blue book and online course are all that you need?

bump

I'm looking into tutoring, actually. Who knows. If it can actually improve my score, it is WAY worth the high price tag.

I didn't practice or have a tutor and I still got a 2320.

^Well, I didn't! My CR + W scores were amazing...but the math really lacking (590). I think I need to brush up on my algebra skills. So since I'm looking to improve 100+ points...haha.

:O haha, try and get some books on geometry and algebra II, it's pretty dry reading but very helpful.

you should take testmasters (<a href="http://www.testmasters.com%5B/url%5D">www.testmasters.com</a>) . it is based around the college board blue book & they give you a vocab list of the most common vocab words used. WHICH HELPED SO MUCH. they also break down which math equations show up more frequently, so you know what to focus on.
