So I took the AP US history exam this past year (2014) and I got a 5. I plan to take the SAT US History subject test in one or two months. I know that many students recommend the AMSCO book but I don't know if that book is right for me as I've already taken the course and done well on the AP exam. I'm not sure if I need a very in depth review of the book. I also don't know if I have time to work through 700 pages. What do you guys suggest I do? Also, for those who have taken both exams, how did you do on them? Did those of you who got 5s get high scores on the subject test?

I haven’t done AP, but I’m currently reviewing with Larry Krieger’s Essential Content and I find it fantastic. The book is concise but with thorough research and the required level of detail.

^Krieger’s is good. I used Kaplan’s SAT USH as well after krieger’s. Easy to read ( can breeze through) and provides a good review. Also, AP US history past exams are very similar to SAT USH (4+ past APUSH exams on internet: 1984,1988,1996,2001,2006, and 2010 Official Practice Test). I ended up getting a 5/790.

I used Larry Krieger’s Crash Course US History and his Course Guide for the AP exam. I didn’t realize he had a book that was specific to the SAT. Thanks guys!
