SAT US shortcut to 800?

For all the nitty gritty info in SAT US, the ones that don't show up in prep books like obscure authors, would it be enough to just look at past threads that compiled the answers to those tests. So instead of reading the big AMSCO which I don't have time for anyways, would Kaplan and the above strategy work for an 800?

if you’re seeking a shortcut and need to study, you likely aren’t getting an 800.

^theres only 4 days till the test so I can’t read AMSCO and understand it all. Kaplan is sufficient for a 750 anyways. But since they recycle a lot of the questions…will the past threads work?

If the authors are obscure and have been tested recently, then they’re probably not going to be tested this Saturday.

The authors really aren’t that difficult though. The same ones seem to pop up: Upton Sinclair, Hemingway, Ida Tarbell, Rachel Carson, etc.

You can definitely read AMSCO is 4 days. It can be read in one day with an intense marathon of reading or read in 2 days with a high but feasible amount of reading so 4 days is very possible.

Crash course to the rescue!!!

Yeah, if you are pressed for time, Crash Course is perfect (as the book’s title suggests).

uhm…sorry but can I ask what Amsco is :">
is it a good book for US His :-/
'cause I heard the best is Barron’s SAT II and Barron’s AP :-?

If you’ve got 4 months and have never studied any kind of USH (except a little bit about the New Deal) due to not living in the US, what’s the best book to use?

AMSCO.

Or a textbook. I think it was American Pageant or something. But that might require more than 4 months.

It would of been smart to compile answers considering the previous US History Subject Test was the exact same as the one given in May 2008

The answers are compiled in the June 2009 US History thread.

No, you can blow through the entire American pageant in a week if you read every day.

I had to read American Pagent for APUSH, it took my an hour to read one chapter… probably because i kept getting distracted… but it cant be read in a week if you want to retain anything at all

Hi,
I have registered for SAT2 world History in November. But the last time i studied for World History was in 8th grade. Can anyone plz recommend books for world history…
PS: What is Amsco? what does it stand for…

World History - Use Barrons. I got an 800 by self-studying
It will take you a LONG time though. I used the whole year annotating and highlighting and yada yada… I also used Princeton Review the week before the test because it sums up all the general points and brings specifics back to memory.

US History - AMSCO = bible
And I believe Amsco doesn’t stand for anything… but it’s a nice review book. A bit long and dense though, so if you want to do well, use your time well.
