How much does Columbia care for one over the other? My school only has maybe three or four kids a year taking the SAT, with HUGE emphasis on kids taking the ACT, as it determines whether my school meets AYP and gets federal funds.

Anyways, would not taking the SAT (I'd still take Subject tests) hurt me when I apply next year?

ACT: Composite-33
English-34
Math-35
Reading-34
Science-30

Writing- 11/12
Writing+English- 34

columbia understands that kids in the midwest mostly take ACT, they accept them equally.

it is important though, columbia still requires 2 SAT II tests.

Hmm, I was just afraid when I saw on the collegeboard’s website that some 97% of students submitted the SAT (out of either the accepted students or the attending students), compared to 20-something for the ACT. It made it seem like submitting only the ACT would alienate me, as only 3% of the admitted/attending have submitted only ACT + SAT IIs

honestly chicago, i wouldn’t trust the collegeboard fully on this one.

1) they don’t have columbia’s data, it is based on their data, and since the collegeboard supports the SAT, it is obviously biased. it may even be based on student response surveys.

2) i submitted an ACT, and was admitted.

3) it is well known that more people take the SAT, however, columbia is very aware of the ACT, its merits, and sees a lot of students that have taken the ACT, and knows the differences. personally, i like the ACT more.

A friend from my school was accepted into SEAS with 33ACT and a pair of 790 SATII’s. 33 translates to a 2190, so you just need to focus on your SAT II’s now, good luck!
