<p>So a friend of mine got a 2400 as a Freshman in highschool. If he wants to qualify for national merit, does he have to retake the SAT? The year he'll take the PSAT is in 2015.</p>
<p>BroDude…The qualifying SAT score must be achieved between October of the student’s sophomore year and December of their senior year. So no…his freshman year score would not be useable for that purpose. But I’m guessing if he got a 2400 his freshman year, he shouldn’t have too much trouble achieving a high enough score during another sitting.</p>
<p>Your chronology is inconsistent. If he is a freshman this year he’d take the PSAT in October, 2014, If he was a freshman last year he’d take the PSAT in October, 2013. Are you sure you have your numbers right?</p>
