SAT Vocab Novels

Has anyone ever tried those Sparknote's "SAT Vocabulary Novels"? What did you think? Are they are that effective? Hum...

No,I suggest reading Divine Comedy, Heart of Darkness, and Catch-22

I tried one once, and I didn't feel that it helped me any ...

I borrowed KAplan's Frankenstein from my library. It was ok. having the words defined right there is very handy. However, there weren't enough "hard" words defined to make a difference in my vocabulary aftwerwards. Most books are like that.

i read sparknotes busted, it was kind of interesting lol (im ashamed to say) and i learned a few words too. But some of the words are used awkwardly, and it sounds like they just used a thesaurus to look up random words. But for the SAT's i think its pretty effective.

how about the vocab for dummies book? not quite a novel but sorta kinda like one I think.

eh..my dad got me one of the kaplan's SAT vocab novels and even though there are a lot of words a lot of them are pretty easy. i'd definitely rather just read a book that interests me and look up any of the words i don't know than read a book specifically for learning vocab.
