SAT Vocab

I suck at SAT vocab. I usually get all the passage-based questions right, but I miss about 2 of the sentence completions on each CR section, which really hurts my score.

What's a good way to memorize SAT vocab? I have the Kaplan flipbook, but it doesn't seem to help that much. I'm a more visual learner.

Buy a index card box, get an alphabetical card divider a-z, and make all your cards. This is just for good organization, main idea- flash cards.

Before the May SAT, my friend and I got a "Vocab E-mail" going back and forth, where we would make up sentences with inside jokes of ours, and it's basically impossible to forget those words now. After going through flashcards or something first, maybe you could try something like that with the ones you can't seem to remember.

This was my way to learn vocab, and I did pretty well on the CR. (740)

Each day of homeroom before the teacher came in, I picked out two interesting words and wrote them in a corner of the board as "words of the day" with definitions. You may think your classmates would mock you - you would be correct.

However, what ended up happening was that in mocking me, they used the words in sentences. Each day, some smart ass in the back would read one of the words out loud, and soon some of the kids would be using them in weird sentences all day, so tons of unfamiliar words stuck in my head as being associated with something funny, and I actually remembered (like still know them now) about half of the words.

Good luck!
