SAT vs Acceptance at Princeton

I got these statistics about test scores vs. acceptance in the Princeton class of 2013 from CC
as a note it's a relatively small sample & it’s just one factor of admissions…AND don’t forget, it’s CC.
Organized in a neatly fashion in order of scores. Interpret them however you want to.

Some 2100 range scores accepted, woot!

a 28 ACT score was accepted?! do you know if athletes are factored into this?

^you can check the thread. It should be a sticky on Princeton. I just consolidated the scores but there are entire profilies for almost all of them

Come on guys, you know they take a holistic view of the application. I’m willing to bet there were 1800/1900’s accepted.

As for athletes, yes, astounding players are given some leeway,

^i am too, but how many 1800/1900 students are there on CC? CC’s scale is definitely the top 25% rather than the bottom, but that doesn’t mean such students won’t get accepted. It just means that they aren’t on CC

Yeah, CC is Cream of the Crop.

My making this thread just proves how pathetically desperate I am about getting into Princeton hahaha

2400’s are 3/4. I hope I’m on the right side of that fraction.

The score ranges as liek identical for rejected and accepted XD

Nice compilation; I’m sure that will be useful. I feel less special now though. :(

That is true, but even then it’s sort of…misleading. At my school, I was the only person on CC, and there were 10 people who scored 2380-2400 in my grade. So there are many, many high scorers not on CC, and we can’t assume the acceptance rates are the same between the two groups.

I think it’s important to note the fact that the score spectrum for accept, reject and waitlist is like the same thing, like Djokovic said. I’m sure out of all of us applying to princeton, not all of us will get in, but try to keep an open mind to the fact that they take a holistic approach to acceptance, otherwise there would only be 2300+ scorers at all the ivies. That’s the approach I’ve been taking at least.

The range may be the same, but the distribution is different.

The results really do show a more holistic approach after a certain score is achieved. Also, the rejected list would be much more long but quite a few who are rejected don’t bother to post their statistics, which is understandable. Even with a 2350+, chances of admission are still probably only around 40%.

“Yeah, CC is Cream of the Crop.”

A friend of mine from '08, accepted to Princeton and now attending MIT, told me that the admissions committee calls its admitted students "*cr

^^^quartered as in kept in a colonial household during war or chopped into quarters?

You’re right; about 2.2% of 1800ish-scoring applicants got in.

Take away the hooked and I bet that number is 0.1%. It’s not statistically significant enough to make somebody reasonably hopeful that they can get into Princeton without either the stats or the hooks.
