If I have a 1790 on the SATs and a 32 on the ACTs, would colleges not accept me if I only reach the ACT score range and not the SAT score range? I am going to retake the SATs in October but I’m kind of rusty so I might not do so well.
Not many score would ask you to send in all scores for both tests, at least not for the schools in your score range. So just send in ACT score and you would be fine. Even if you send both, most schools would look for the better score. You know, there are hundreds reasons to blow a test (e.g. sick, calculator dead, etc) but only one reason for good score.
Colleges weigh SAT scores and ACT scores the same. You DO NOT have to send in BOTH. If I were you, depending on the school, I would just send in your ACT scores to the colleges that you are applying to.
(Note: A 32 on the ACT is a rough equivalent to a 2120 on the SAT)
Thus, if you do not think you can do better than a 2120 on the SAT this fall, don’t bother taking it and just send in your ACT. Most colleges will still be impressed. Ivies are a different story!
I try to be accurate and answer your questions as best as I can! Feel free to ask me anything! Questions and comments are always welcome! Good luck and have a great day!
