soo... my december test scores are like so:
2020 for sat
and 33 composite for act, with 28 in writing.

i've applied for UCs (berkeley, la, sd, irvine) and CalPoly, even though there is a good chance I won't get in. Which score should I send?

Send the ACT, 33 composite is good.
What’s your GPA and class rank?
Note that class rank is REALLY important for UCs.

Edit: what were your SAT subscores for math and reading?

Your ACT score is good, and better than SAT score. However, your SAT score is not bad either. But I agree with the above post, subscore can matter as well. Like if you’re applying for a math-related major, it might be good to show your high SAT math subscore, even if the total score is 2020.

thanks for the feedback!

I was going to send the ACT too, but I was hesitating because it’s not the traditional route.
My SAT math score: 770, reading was very low for me this time: 600.

btw, i am applying as an engineering major.

also, ACT subscores were surprisingly…
math: 35 reading: 36 english: 33
but ironically for a science major, my science score was 28. ><

Definitely use the ACT. It’s too bad about the low reading on the SAT. Cal Poly only looks at Math and Reading on the SAT, but Composite on the ACT. I’m not suprised at the low science subscore on the ACT. I’ve heard it doesn’t really test science knowledge.
With your ACT scores, it really depends on your GPA and class rank as to what your chances are.
Good luck!
