so in terms of personal experience or the experiences of your siblings and friends, which test would you say is easier, the SAT or ACT?
It depends on the individual. The ACT is more time constrained while the SAT is more tricky (based on logic). Are you a quick worker/reader? Maybe the ACT is better. Are you a clear logical thinker? Maybe the SAT is better.
I would say ACT, and my SAT is actually better (at least, right now). I’ve seen far more people with a 35 ACT and only a 2000 SAT than people with 2300 SAT and only a 30 ACT. Personal experience, peer experience, and a few minor factors lead me to believe the ACT is easier.
Some people just do better on one test. One of my sisters got a 31 ACT and 2310 SAT eventually. Another sister has a 33 ACT and noncomparable SAT. Try out both at least once
@Hermit9 Your statement is false. The ACT is by no means any easier than the SAT. The fact that it has time constraints does indeed make it a harder test.
For me personally the ACT was easier though. I am indeed a hard worker and I take a heck load of AP classes every year. So the ACT came much more naturally to me because of this. I spent a year and half on my SAT prep, but the highest score I got was a 2140. Then starting from this March I was finally introduced to the ACT. I had never seen one before and I was already 3/4 of my way through junior year! It was extremely late for me to begin ACT. But by doing endless practices I soon got used to the format of the ACT. The June 2015 ACT came out for me just I while ago and I ended up scoring a 35.25(one question off a 36).
So ultimately I truly believe these tests are physiological and how your mind works. Some people can do both and achieve a lot. But for me, the hard-working high school nerd the ACT was the way to go.
No doubt the ACT for me. The SAT was very overwhelming for me whereas the ACT was very straightforward. My first SAT was a horrendous 1530 while my first ACT is a somewhat respectable 26. I definitely agree that the SAT is a lot more logic based.
(30 E + 26 R v. 570 W + 480 CR; 25 M v 480 M).
The ACT is straightforward and very time constrained. The SAT is made to trick you and is not straightforward at all and is kinda time constrained. It depends on the person but I’ve seen way more people with higher scores on the ACT than the SAT. A greater amount of people at my school have gotten a 34+ than compared to the handful that have gotten even a 2100+
@nevergiveupp You’re also ignoring a number of minor factors, which I mentioned. This includes things like the fact that the ACT only has 4 options, whereas SAT has 5. Not to mention in this case opinions are subjective since different skillsets cater towards different tests.
I’m wrong? No.
STEM kids tend to do better on the ACT. LAC kids tend to to better on the SAT. Since the SAT is being replace with a more ACT-like test, this may be a moot point.
