i got my scores for both

i got a 2050 on the SAT (740M 610V 700W)
and a 29 ACT.... i'm definitely submitting my SAT, but do you think it would be in my advantage to submit, or not submit the ACT.... all

I think the two scores seem fairly comparable and that submitting both would allow each to validate the other.

no dont submit ACT

29 is like a 1920

I got a 30 and 2180 and didnt submit my 30

true, this whole "conversion thing" is a mess. I don't see the logic in how these scores can even be compared in the first place.

for one, my 2050 SAT was in the 91 percentile , and my ACT 29 was in the 95 percentile yet it only converts to a 1920. What is the logic there? southern kids cant be that dumb compared to northerners

and yet another thing... at cornell the SAT average is a 1390, and the ACT average is a 29 , which when converted is a 1300 SAT......

anyone have any insight to have on all this act junk?

The percentiles may be correct, but as you said, the percentiles are from two different worlds--to say the least!

i got a 1790(so pathetic) on the SAT last june (first time I took it), then took the ACT for the first time in oct and got a 30 composite. Then I took the Nov SATand I think I got around a 1950-2050. But I feel like I did better on the Nov. SAT than compared to the Oct ACT. So what is a 30 equivalent to compared to the SATs.

1320-1350 (V+M) = 30 ACT

use this concordance table for conversions:
http://www.collegeboard.com/sat/cbsenior/html/stat00f.html

don't mean to steal your thread but what about my SAT (1440 m/v) vs. my ACT (33 composite)? Which one or both? i'm thinking both?

BlueDevil-- the concordance table says a 33 ACT ~= 1460-1500 SAT, so it appears that your ACT is better.......I'll leave it to those more experienced to know if sending both is or is not advisable; however I would think that decision is in part related to where you will be applying and their SAT / ACT preferences, as well as if you'll be submitting SAT II's (meaning they'll get the SAT I anyway).

ah, yes, i'm applying ed to cornell so the sat2's will be seen, so sat 1 will be seen... so i guess sending both is better b/c act is better? anyone got suggestions?

it seems as though "less intelligent" people take the act vs. the sat. i thought alot of the same people take both. according to college board, a 700 verbal is 95th percentile, a 700 math is 94th percentile, while a 31 composite act (~1400-1420) is 99th percentile. what's up with that?

32 act******
