SAT vs ACT?

I took both the ACT and the SAT this past spring and got a 1540 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. Not sure which one to submit to colleges because although the ACT cumulative score is better, I got 770 math subscore on SAT and a 32 math subscore on ACT. I’m thinking about applying to engineering, so would the 32 on the math section look worse than a 1540 SAT?

Depends at where your applying, a 32 in math might be an issue at CalTech or MIT as that score is below their middle 50%.

I’m in the same boat as you, where I have a 36 ACT (Math 34, rest 36), and a 1540 on the SAT (math 790, english 750). What I’m doing is that I’m sending my ACT score, and also sending out a SAT II Math subject test (I’m aiming for an 800). That way, they see the really good ACT score as well as proof that my math skills are great (if all goes according to plan).

that’s a great idea! thanks!
