SAT vs. ACT

Is there any truth in the fact that more selective universities (the Ivy League) prefer SAT scores over ACT scores, as if the SAT is a better indicator or some nonsense. It seems like most CC members either don't take the ACT or don't report the score when talking about admissions. My ACT is better than my SAT but I am considering retaking the SAT for this reason.

Just curious for your input.

Also, is there any way to put an ACT score on a quasi-SAT scale. FYI mine was a 34. I'm thinking around 1520ish or 2300ish. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanx.

You may be interested in this recent thread over in the parent's forum. It occurred to me that it might be pretty relevant over here in the SAT and ACT forums. Read through to the end, the upshot is that this was true not that long ago, but apparently not anymore. The majority of selective schools are taking both on an equal basis now. There are a few exceptions, so be sure to read the school's websites for requirements.
