SAT vs. ACT

Can anyone bullet out the main differences betweenthe ACT and the SAT? What basic atrtegies would a child prepped for SAT change in order to take the ACTs?

please do a search, and you will come up with many answers

I will do the first, but leave the 2nd for someone else.

Main differences are:

SAT has a mandatory Essay, ACT does not (called Writing Test)

ACT has an extra subject area: Science
i.Math
ii. Critical Reading
iii. Writing Skills

ACT consists four subject areas:
i. Math
ii. English (basically Writing Skills)
iii. Reading (basically CR, but no Sentence Completions)
iv. Science

On the ACT, GUESSING is better than omitting - on the SAT, OMITTING is better

SAT is an aptitude (supposedly intelligence) test, but the ACT is an achievement (what you learned in high-school) test.

Students who do well in advanced classes tend to do better on the ACT than the SAT, as well as students who like or have taken advanced science classes.

IF you want more info on the ACT go to its wikipedia page or College Entrance Exam Advisors and Educators dot org (use the acronym).
