SAT vs. ACT

Okay, this looks to be one of my very first posts on College Confidential. I'm certainly excited to be here.

I have always wanted to attend Dartmouth, and I must say I've tried hard in everything academic in order to do so. I have taken both the SAT and ACT (w/ Writing), but I have not taken the SAT II Subject Tests. I only took the SAT once, and I received a 1970 overall (1360 on the old standard). This score is relatively low, mainly because I was sick the day of the test! Yikes! On the other hand, I have a 34 composite score on my ACT.

Ok, now to cut to the chase. I've been told that Dartmouth will take the SAT OR the ACT w/ Writing. I have two SAT test dates left. What do you guys recommend? Should I retake the SAT Reasoning Test and hope for a better score, or should I rely on my ACT and gun for the SAT II as quickly as possible?

Thanks,
Dave

SAT II's, duh.

34 converts to a 2280(or so), and there is no preference to either test.

Thank you very much. I wasn't sure if they were nonpreferential in regards to standardized test type. I guess I'll be going straight for the SAT IIs then. Now all I can do is hope I make it.

Thanks again,
Dave

are you sure they require you to take SAT IIs if you're submitting your ACT? most schools i applied had either ACT w/ writing or SAT and two SAT IIs, with the exception of Harvard. haha i'm an incoming freshman but i've already forgot dartmouth's admission requirements.

Dartmouth requires the SAT or ACT and 2 SAT II's regardless of whether you took the SAT or ACT.
