a couple questions…

schools, especially Ivy League, say that they will take the ACT in lieu of SAT reasoning test and subject tests. Does that mean the ACT only takes the place of the reasoning test or is it that you don’t submit your subject tests either?

If you submit your subject tests, do they see every single one, including the reasoning test?

Okay, you have two choices:

submit SAT and SAT II's

forget the SAT and SAT II altogether and take the ACT with writing

Yes.

dchow's right.
However, if you want to there's nothing stopping you from sending both (or only taking SAT II's but not the reasoning test), other than the annoying cost of sending both to colleges.

I believe only Yale and Brown among all the Ivies allow you to take the ACT with writing in place of both the SAT and the subject tests.

UPenn also accepts ACT w/ writing in lieu of SAT and Subject Tests
