SAT vs ACT

Why did you choose SAT instead of ACT?

the SAT is the standard. i hadnt considered the ACT

I’m not even sure we have the ACT in this country at all. But then again no one aside from me as even heard of it in my school, so it’d be illogical to do it over the SAT if it is available. The SAT is indeed the standard, as crazybandit said.

Colleges will accept scores from either the ACT or the SAT. At the top tier schools my daughter looked at, including 6 Ivys, admissions specifically said they had NO preference for one over the other. If you can take both tests, I would, as some people do better on one then the other.

I’m planning on taking both, but a driving factor for me was the fact that the ACT is only offered once more at the only testing centre in my state before my college score submission deadline (I’m applying for Fall 2011 admission). The SAT is offered three or four more times (depending on the individual college’s deadline).
