Hello everyone!
I have a question about the PSAT.
I'm currently a rising Junior, and I really want to become a NMSF.
I just took the SAT and got a measly 1960, though I had a high fever the night before and if I didn't, I expect around 2050.
Should I expect a little higher on the PSAT, since I heard it was easier?
Or are they about the same?
Thanks a lot!

^ It is easier, but the curve is much harsher. It all depends, but most people do better on the SATs than the PSATs.

Yes, definitely expect higher on the psat.

The first time I took the SAT was at the beginning of 10th grade ( I got a 1900). But the following year when I took the psat I scored a 222.

Well, the math curve is very harsh. 1 wrong drops you to a 76.

Overall, it is a little easier, especially the math section, which is significantly more easier.

@you'llsee: dang that's a really big jump
congrats on the good score! you'll probably be a nmsf. :)
Well, since I took it at the END of sophomore year I'll expect a lesser leap.
Maybe 210 lol.
Did you study for the PSAT, you'llsee?

well i got a 69 for math on PSAT and 800 on math on SAT.

then again, i didn't try for PSAT and i half guessed every question....

so national merti award thing is a good award right? Would it do anything if we get a 230+ on PSAT (so it'll be obvious that you would get the national merit) if i can't get it because i'm canadian? or should i just not take it next year?

I think you'llsee...'s jump might be due more to time than the PSAT itself. At my school it's free for freshmen and sophomores to take the PSAT, so I took it those two years + junior year. I pretty much scored 10 points higher every year, but I took the SAT in June right after sophomore year and it was higher than all of my PSAT scores, even the one from junior year a couple months later.

@sartorialiste: yeah that's what i'm thinking but i took a practice PSAT (an actual one from CB) and scored a 204 a few months ago
i'm aiming for around 220-225 though anyone have tips?
should i just take practice tests and review the wrong ones or what should i do?
