This is my last chance to take the SAT before my apps are due. I am not sure if want to retake the actual test which I have 1870 or take the SAT SUBJECT test for the first time. Of the schools on my list a few say it's recommended to take the Subject test. However I believe it's also neccessary to raise my SAT score at least into the 1900s or possibly the 2000s. Will it matter if I don't take the subject tests especially at the schools that recommend it? Which test should I take?

I personally would take the real SAT again if you really think your score will go up that much. To start, if subject tests are not required then they wont impact your app at all; to my knowledge. They are looked upon as last minute stats to see who would be better between two applicants with the same stats. Whereas the SAT is a huge factor in admissions. Give a list of where you are applying.

My schools are George Washington (recommends Subject), Villanova, American, Fordham, and Lehigh

I would go with SAT 1s as GWU’s bottom 25th SAT scores are around where yours are. So to have a better chance I would retake your SATs. Only if you know you will do well on them.

Any other opinions

I would say retake the SAT’s. It’s more important than SAT Subject tests to most colleges. Besides, only one of the colleges you mentioned recommends them so I wouldn’t sweat it too much. It’s more important to raise your SAT score than to take some subject tests. For most of those places, you might need a higher score to be in range anyways.

definitely SAT
