SAT vs SAT2

Hi,
I was wondering whether taking the SAT reasoning or the SAT2s would be more wise for me in January. I am a senior, so I only have one shot left!

I've already taken the SAT twice, and my power score is a 2250. I have a 800 on critical reading, 730 on math, and 720 on writing. However, my individual scores are both 2170, the first time around I got a 720 in reading, and the second time around I got a 650 in writing (don't know what happened). My 800 in reading came the second time around.

For SAT2s, I have a 730 in math2, a 720 in bioE, and a 710 in lit.

My top choices are Uchicago (obviously), MIT, Rice, Georgia tech, columbia, brown, dartmouth. I know that neither my SAT or SAT2s are quite up to par with these schools. I am confident that I can get my SAT to a 2300 with a bit of writing and math help, and at least a 750 in two subject tests. Which do you think would help me more when applying to competitive colleges?

For UChicago at least, SAT2’s are not considered if they are not sent. UChicago does not look at the writing either so you have a 1530. The middle 50% was a 1440-1540 if that helps at all. Most schools will superscore so don’t worry about the individual scores.

I think subject tests will net you the most benefit. The SAT is hard to increase your score in if you’re at the range of a 2250 while subject tests are easier to improve in (from my experience).

If you’re very into UChicago, retaking the SAT will help you. Otherwise, I’d take the subject tests. Try to get the Math2 score higher since even an 800 is at the 87% percentile or something.

Good luck! If you have UChicago questions let me know!
