SAT vs Subject Tests - Engineering

Hi all,

I'm interested in pursuing engineering at UCLA, UCB, and UCSD. I know each of these schools recommend that applicants take a math and science subject test, but I've been wondering: how important is it to do well on these subject tests, as compared to doing well on the SAT?

Doing well on the SAT I > SAT II, however many applicants applying to UCB will have done well on both test.

Hi, thanks for replying to my other thread. The reason I ask about subject tests and SAT’s is because I’m deciding on which one to retake. I would appreciate it if you could help.

Some more specific context on my situation:
I currently have a 2190 on the SAT(680Cr+780M+730Writing), as well as an 800 in Math 2 and a 680 in Physics.

As a Berkeley EECS applicant, which should I retake during the December administration?

@Dynasty21‌ was the physics subject test hard?

I’m guessing that you are instate, so I would say that your chances are good. However, just a reminder that these schools are still very sporadic in picking their students, so I suggest that you don’t set your heart onto these. That said, I would be surprised if you don’t get into UCSD, assuming you have decent essays and ECs.
