SAT without taking Trig/Pre-Calc

I searched this up but I was looking for a little in more input .

I was starting to plan for the SAT with S21. I was thinking of of him taking it in August of his junior year. That way he can study during July without having to worry about classes or sports too much. During the school year he tends to get wrapped up and stressed out during the school year.

However, how important is Trigonometry on the SAT? By then S21 would only completed through Honors Algebra 2 . From what I read it seems that Trig is only about 10% of the math section.

Sorry if this is redundant but just looking for some guidance.

TIA

My DD just took her first SAT in August only after completing Algebra 2. She’s a Junior now taking pre-calc.
She got 800 on math so it’s definitely doable. Just do a lot of practice questions.

My son scored 800 on math and thought it was ridiculously easy compared to ACT math. He was taking trig at the time. He said that it’s very basic, and he is good at math, but not exceptional. His ACT math score was a fair bit lower, at 31. I do think ACT math will be very difficult without trig. A sample of one is not a good way to make a decision, of course. Your son should do a few sections from each test as practice and see what he thinks.
