SAT World History

awesome scores oasis! then you must have pwnd the test, unlike me...

does the real book contain a curve for the test? If so, what would be the minimum raw score in order to achieve a 750?

Here is the curve for the Real: (well up to 700...:p)

80 to 95 - 800
79 - 790
77 to 78 - 780
76 - 770
74 to 75 - 760
73 - 750
71 to 72 - 740
69 to 70 - 730
67 to 68 - 720
66 - 710
64 to 65 - 700

Good luck!! Hope you made not 750, but 800 =)

haha i wish! more like a 008 instead of a 800 (ok this is a incredibly dumb statement...)

Well, I'm one of those people who're NOT taking AP yet still taking the course cause I'm really very dumb...

Sooo...I started studying the WHOLE course this week with the barron's like 5 hours a day and pretty much breezed through it..

The African tribes, man...I put down Zulu for that one. And about the ancient river valleys...was that one HEALTHY CLIMATE? x.X Hmmm... I marked down Iran for a question I was unsure of (I think something about colonization or the ottomans? I forgot).. Oh yes! And another question...which two bordering nations exploded w/ nuclear capabilities in the late 90's--Was that Pakistan/India? The christian question "thou--something Peter"..what was the answer to that? HISTOGRAPHY?? What the BLOODY HELL is that?!

I was just about to post but it said after 10 AM PST, which is 1 PM my time.
So......I THINK I DID HORIBBLY :(.
I know I got eight+ wrong already, probably fifteen+ by the end of the day lol.

ummm....not time yet....(should only be 8 PA right now)

haha.. i put everything the exact same as u.. except i skipped the river valley one,i was gonna put the drinking water.. then i as like hmm seems too simple....and sumthing peter was authority of pope, and historgraphy i put like the last one.. record by governemtn of sum crap.. cuz graphy means record in medical terminology.. LOL.. i dunno.. im really stupid.. lol..wutever.. its overrrrr...

Meh? Oh yes, some kids haven't taken the test yet!..brought to my attention by Ed/oasis x.x

What did you guys put for the river valley one?

I believe I put Greece. India - Indus River, Egypt - Nile, Mesopotamia - Tigris/Euphrates, and so forth.

I mean the growth of civ in relation with the river valleys

Oh... do you remember the answer choices?

Unfortunately no....

*Which of the following was the reason why ancient inhabitents lived near river valleys..da..da..da?
-The resources of metals found in teh rivers
-The protection barrier from the river
-The healthy climate of the river .."something something"
-<forgot the="" 4th="" option=""></forgot>

I put..HEALTHY CLIMATE because all the other choices just seemed very wrong. x.x

i said for protection/security...

miwako, are you Japanese?!

I didn't take the test, but I can tell you that the primary reason ancient civilizations located themselves near river valleys was to exploit them as a resource for food (high quality natural irrigation) and fresh water (self-explanatory). These were precious commodities that were too scarce elsewhere to support a well developed civil society (until the development of organized trade much more recently, in my opinion). So if "healthy climate" meant that, you're correct.

no. irrigation was one of the answer choices. that is the correct answer.

I agree with irrigation.

Both naturally irrigated areas and stable sources of fresh water were very hard to find outside of a river. If "irrigation" and "drinking water" were two distinct and exclusive responses, then I'd have to pick irrigation. If they were both contained within one answer, that answer is obviously correct.

They're both very essential pieces to the puzzle of why civilizations were typically centered in river valleys.
