I was thinking about the suspicions of October 14 SAT writing score aberrations/mistakes and thought of this: if strange scores are concentrated to specific regions of the country, then a grading mistake would seem much more plausible. I'd like to start a list here to see what kind of score individuals got, the aberration from a previous **REAL SCORE/b, and most importantly, your state or country.

Expected 780-800
Actual: 710, 9E (12 first time I took it)

MA

Don't want to blame collegeboard. It's probably just a harsh curve with a huge drop off. It's really unlikely that they'd make a huge mistake right after their October mess up.

My kid had two 700 scores on the essay section previously, and the October 06 score was a 580...down 120! (math and writing were essentially the same -- writing down 10 points).

That's a really good point a778999, and judging from the list so far, it isn't concentrated to even a quadrant of the country...

Collegeboard probably didn't screw up, but it's still fair to wonder, considering the bizarre gap either (scores either equal-ish to previous, or else way lower).

No discrepancy between scores here: Texas
Oct 14 writing: 750
Previous writing: 730
Multiple choice the same (76) on both tests. Essay went from an 8 to a 9. Score changed +20 points.

June SAT : 670 9E
October SAT: 560 9E
New Jersey

somebody has got to report this situation to collegeboard, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
im ordering hand scoring first thing on monday
hopefully they will detect a mistake or something

I took the one with the castle paragraph fix, like fastfingers. My score went from 760 (77 MC, 9 E) in June 2006 to 690 (70 MC, 9 E) in October.

It doesn't really matter to me, since colleges take the best score from each section. It's a teensy bit aggravating, anyway, though.
