SAT writing aberrations by region?

I was thinking about the suspicions of October 14 SAT writing score aberrations/mistakes and thought of this: if strange scores are concentrated to specific regions of the country, then a grading mistake would seem much more plausible. I'd like to start a list here to see what kind of score individuals got, the aberration from a previous **REAL SCORE/b, and most importantly, your state or country.

I'll start.

Oct. 14 Writing: 670; Previous score: 740. 70 point drop. COLORADO.

Oct. 14 Writing: 580
Expected score from blue book: 670-750
OREGON

Expected 780-800
Actual: 710, 9E (12 first time I took it)

MA

Don't want to blame collegeboard. It's probably just a harsh curve with a huge drop off. It's really unlikely that they'd make a huge mistake right after their October mess up.

Western PA

My kid had two 700 scores on the essay section previously, and the October 06 score was a 580...down 120! (math and writing were essentially the same -- writing down 10 points).

Actually, I think if there is a mistake it will most likely depend on the version of the test taken instead of the state in which it was taken.

hmm good point since some ppl seem to have good success while others had really bad scores.

The paragraph fix for writing on my testing was about castles if I remember correctly.

Oct. 14 Writing: 620;
Previous score: 750.
130 point drop.
Florida.

That's a really good point a778999, and judging from the list so far, it isn't concentrated to even a quadrant of the country...

Collegeboard probably didn't screw up, but it's still fair to wonder, considering the bizarre gap either (scores either equal-ish to previous, or else way lower).

No discrepancy between scores here: Texas
Oct 14 writing: 750
Previous writing: 730
Multiple choice the same (76) on both tests. Essay went from an 8 to a 9. Score changed +20 points.

06/06 writing: 660
10/06 writing: 680
virginia

01/06: 770
10/06: 680
90 point drop
North Carolina

June SAT : 670 9E
October SAT: 560 9E
New Jersey

somebody has got to report this situation to collegeboard, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
im ordering hand scoring first thing on monday
hopefully they will detect a mistake or something

10/05: 700
10/06: 790

mine went up harshly.

i studied by butt off for an year. And I got the deserved result.
so i am not complaining.

could everybody try to remember which writing test they took?

I took the one with the castle paragraph fix, like fastfingers. My score went from 760 (77 MC, 9 E) in June 2006 to 690 (70 MC, 9 E) in October.

It doesn't really matter to me, since colleges take the best score from each section. It's a teensy bit aggravating, anyway, though.

maybe the castle fix section is flawed

5/06
750M/750CR/720 UW (660MC + 6E, but i trust the essay)

10/06
640M/740CR/670 UW (670MC + 9E)
(That's A drop of 170 points, my dears. :/)

Oregon.

Well, my D wasn't interested in bettering her previous writing score but went up hugely:

1/06: 720 (10 essay)
10/06: 790 (12 essay)

She thought she did well on the essay - - the prompt really spoke to her. She's always been a good writer, especially when inspired.

CA

550 SAT score / expecting 650+

i got castle as well. live in CA.

Sigh. I've always been a very slow writer.
I'm not surprised at all at my essay scores.
Now, the MC on the other hand...

I'm not like Gyros where I have to be right on every single problem,
but there is simply no way i got 10 wrong on math.

Castle?
