SAT Writing...again

A few more writing questions...

Available through the school's guidance office is a job directory and a list of job referral centers that provide information for students in need of employment. No error

The answer is A (is), but I don't see why...

And also this one...

No one is sorrier than I that you missed the awards ceremony.

I was just wondering how come you say "I" even though it's in the phrase "than __". I got this right but I'm not sure why it is so.

It's "is" because there are multiple things available from the office -- a job directory AND a list of centers. Therefore, it should be "are" to reflect the plural subject.

The word "than" is always followed by I, he, she, or they -- never me, him, her, or them.

I've posted an explanation of this elsewhere on the forum, but here's the brief version...

If you say "She is taller than I," you are actually abbreviating the sentence "she is taller than I am." It wouldn't make sense to say, "she is taller than me am," right?

like ^ said.
a job directory AND a list of job referal centres. That's more than one so it's plural; not singular.

I just solved the exact same question 2 days ago.
