SAT writing considered?

I got my sat scores:
800 m
700 cr
680 W
and I want to go to rice early admit (or decision?, i always get those confused :P)
should I retake the sat in october to raise my writing score or does rice consider the writing portion?

I had the same writing and cr scores as you and a 760 math and I got into rice RD

Rice does look at Writing, but your scores seem competitive enough.

my writing is my highest. so does rice not really care about writing? do they just glance at it...but not let it play as much of a factor? is that what you guys are saying?
im confused. sorry

I don't think any of us can answer this question with any sort of authority. None of us are adcoms at Rice.

I have similar scores, but slightly worse - 800M 680CR 670W. Do you think I should retake for RD?

The 2007 admission stats are here: 2008 not posted yet.

However, Rice does not admit on stats. They are looking to put together an interesting class of intellectually curious and diverse students. You have to be more than your stats. So although you are in the target ranges from 2007 it is no guarantee, you have to show them more than just stats.

I should have said JUST on stats. Rice stats are obviously great. Burt look at the rest of the profile for the class of 2011 and you see a lot of involved students.
