I'm wondering what some of the score ranges were from previous tests. How many MC writing questions can I get wrong if I get a 12 on the essay for an 800? 750? What about a 10 on the essay? Any type of idea would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

omg the SAT writing curve was a beeeeyatch. I got a 10 and 68MC score and got a 710

What's the highest MC score? Does a 68MC score mean 2 wrong?

The highest MC score is 80. I am not sure what 68 is, but I would think more than 2 wrong.

Can we make some type of comparison between the weight of the essay and the MC questions?

Would one essay point (like a 10 to an 11) be equal to 4 MC questions or something? Any ideas?

How many can MC writing questions can I get wrong with a 10 essay to get a 750+ (if it's possible)? How about a 12 essay? Thanks!

This is only my assumption that I have made over my past experiences with taking practice tests. It seems as though each point for your essay 2-12 is worth 2 FULL MC points. Let's say you get an 11 on the essay, you would lose roughly around 2 MC points.

I scored 740...12 on the essay, only 3 MC wrong. god damn the ETS

I don't know if this will help but getting 0 (as in you don't write anything...) will lower 200 points in SAT Writing section. so gettin 3 and 3 would give you 100....

sanguine99, which test was that? I know a 10 essay and 5 MC questions wrong on the March '05 test was a 740, but I didn't think it would change that drastically, even if the Mar. test was more lenient.

Hmm, I got a 770 with a 9 on the essay (ouch, haha, but oh well) and a 78 on the multiple choice. It seems the mc questions take off more than the writing.....I took this one in May 2005.

FTR, I also got a 770 when I took the Writing SAT II as a sophomore. I don't remember the breakdown and cb doesn't have it recorded.

Oh, and the first time I took the SAT I was really sick and hadn't slept :/ and I got a 720 writing with an 8 on the essay (!!!) and a 75 on the mc. I really wish I'd just slept in that day.....if my new scores are much higher, does it matter that this set isn't as good? My psat was a lot more like the more recent score (80 writing, for example) and I send it to my first choice school....

I really hope it doesn't hurt me that my essays were crap for these....(the 8 and 9)....

Can anyone else confirm sanguine99's score? It seems like there's more leeway on the writing section, but sanguine's score seems to show the opposite.

That score is probably from a practice test off kaplan or other bootlegged books. That score is not possible on the REAL test with that little wrong.

I can confirm his score. I got 2 wrong and an 11 on my essay on the June test and got a 760.

The essay grader from the online course (TCB) seems to be based on length. I entered text that was a little under 400 words and it gave it a score of 10. I then entered about 100 more words of text that had NOTHING to do with the prompt or the essay and it gave it a score of 12.

sanguine u wud have a 770 if u got a 12 and missed 3

idk why collegboard gives everyone 9’s and 8’s, its like they get really tired of grading essays and just give out 9’s and 8’s

i want an 11 or 12 so baddddddddddddd

9 Essay, 80 MC = 800

All I can tell you. My score.

11 essay, 79 MC = 800 W lol

I think I remember that I got 100% on the MC, but a 6/12 on the essay, and ended up with a 760. I’m sure about the 6/12 and the 760, just not about the MC%.

I just received my score report… I got 45 correct answers - 4 incorrect and an essay score of 8 = 660 !! … Seriously ?? Is that IT ?

I November I got 41 correct answers, 7 incorrect, 1 omitted - an essay score of 9 = 640 !

How can the curve be THAT bad ? xS
