SAT Writing - Does Collegeboard Ever Make Mistakes?

Yes, my CR and W score are also much lower than I imagined, especially my W score. Perhaps there was a scantron error with some of the tests or there was just a really, really unusually harsh curve.

I think I’m going to wait until October 30th for the full report to see if anything seems weird. I know I only omitted one question in Math, so I guess I’ll see. And for those worried about your essay, you’ll be able to see your essay then too.

@ShadowMist, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I also really want to get my QAS to see if it had any omitted, because I didn’t omit any, so if it shows up that I did, we have a problem. Oh, and @Imthesmartest, let’s not ■■■■■, okay? Thanks

@Imthesmartest The College Board is made up of people. It very well can make mistakes. Get the stick outta your …

M: 740 (1-2 wrong?)
CR: 710
W: 720 (Grammar 67, Essay 11)

You’ll see if you left out any on the full score report. And yes, @Imthesmartest STOP TROLLING

@musicislife Do we get online QAS, or do you have to ask them to mail it to you?

You have to ask them to mail it to you. It costs extra, but I find that it’s worth it. For this test too, it may actually make a difference. I just can’t remember when it gets sent out… :/

The Q&A service doesn’t get sent out for a while. I took the May SAT and I didn’t get mine until around July.

Alright, thanks. I ordered it for the January test, but I couldn’t remember when I actually got it.

You can order QAS for $18 either when you register to take the test or up to five months after taking the test. Ironically, the material may be delivered sooner if ordered today than if ordered when registering for the exam. See info below from CB site.

[SAT Scores - Student Answer Verification Services](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board)

“In many cases, Question-and-Answer Service materials may not arrive until after the next scheduled test date. Materials are typically mailed within 6-8 weeks of the test date if you order when you register, or 3-4 weeks after ordering if you do so after scores have been released for your test.”

@CT1417, but seeing as the scores typically get released 3 weeks after the test date, wouldn’t that be about the same? Thanks though for the link! :)

I concede I may be splitting hairs here as I don’t know exactly when the tests will be delivered, but six to eight weeks after Oct 6th test date is Nov 17th - Dec 1 and three to four weeks from score report date (today) is Nov 15 - Nov 22. I called CB today (and was shocked when I got through to someone immediately) to ask if I could request QAS today in addition to the request submitted at registration, but unfortunately the answer was no. It may not amount to any difference, but I would prefer to have the Oct test back before the Dec 1st test date.

Bottom line, one could be better served by waiting until scores are released to request QAS.

Good to know. Of course, not that it matters, since December will be my last SAT. That makes sense, thanks for explaining!

Musicislife–Congrats on finishing soon! I am the parent of a HS Jr so learning this as he goes along.

I have another question that I posted elsewhere on this forum, but perhaps you may know the answer.

Where is everyone seeing the essay score? I can only see the score for each of the three sections. Clicking “Understand your test performance” produces this message: “This report will be available on October 30, 2012.”

Is there section of the CB site other than My SAT that one needs uses to access the detailed breakdown? Thanks!

To get the essay score, go to sat.collegeboard.org, then click on “Available Online” in the orange scores box on the right side of the page. It should prompt you to log in, and then you can see it.

Music—thank you! Good night.

the fact that other people are having the same problem is somewhat re-assuring  fingers-crossed collegeboard screwed up…

^lol. So true. Because there’s no way the curve was that harsh.

^^^ precisely. BTW, curves were posted by CC members. They are actually pretty moderate/generous.

It’s not the curve that has a problem, but maybe answer used by the scanner. But anyway, this is just a hypothesis. I got screwed up too
