I got a 2290 on the SAT (710 CR, 780 M, 800 W). I understand that UChicago apparently only looks at CR+M. Will they seriously not even glance at it? UChicago is my dream school but I feel like a sub-1500 M+CR and ~ a 3.83 UW GPA have already put it out of reach. I will still apply EA, interview on campus (i live in cali) and try to write good essays that demonstrate my personality.

They will only enter CR and M on your chart. I’d wok on the CR score or try the ACT.

Damn looks like I have to take the ACT then. My tutor basically said I have to get a 35 to make it worthwhile

It’s relatively untrue that they won’t even pay attention to your 800. Though UChicago does weight CR+M more than writing, they’ll rarely brush off that an applicant scored an 800 on W. I’d personally recommend that you still go ahead with the ACT, but you’re looking good.

Alright I am really over standardized tests but I’ll just go ahead with the ACT again. Thanks both of you guys. And thanks grammernazi, I thought that they must at least LOOK at it.

Why not just work on CR for the SAT?

I’ve already taken the SAT twice. 2110 ( 710 CR LOL, 670 math, 730 writing) first time. Second time 2290 (710 CR, 780 M, 800 W). Im worried that taking it 3 times will look bad, and there is the large possibility that my other scores will drop.

Interestingly enough, I have gotten A’s in AP Lang, am on track for a 5 on the AP test, and I am taking AP Lit next year. I also took the ACT once, got a 33 (35 R, 35 W, 32 M, 29 S). Will the 35 in reading prove that I am not actually bad at reading comprehension? But then there is my 29 S which will look peculiar after taking AP Bio and AP Physics. I might also major in bio.
