Although gale force winds often pass through the Eiffel Tower, causing it to sway no more than four inches.

(A) causing it to sway no more

(B) and yet it sways no more

(C) they do not cause it to sway more

(D) and they do not cause it to sway

(E) yet causing it to sway no more

I chose B however the answer is C
Can anyone explain this to me?

C’s the best answer. A, B, and E are a lot similar to each other because they use “sway no more” in the answer. And if you read each of the answers out loud, C fits it a lot better than all the rest. It doesn’t use “sway no more” and it clearly points out that gale force winds don’t cause the Eiffel tower to sway more.

That is my question what is wrong with B
by the way B uses sways no more not sway no more

You won’t use “although…and”. “Although…,” is like a dependent clause or sth (I can’t name it), and you should come up with a complete sentence after the “although…,” phrase/clause. I’m not professional but hope this helps. :P

ok thank you so much
