SAT writing scores

writing scores seem really inflated. It seems that everyone has done pretty well on it. But, my friend Christa thought she'd aced the writing portion and only pulled off a 660. Did everyone else think that they had gotten the 800 too? I sure thought so, I have to wait a couple more days to find out.

if you all could, post your writing scores, too.

hem hem.... whispers630whispers (10 essay)
i panicked for some odd reason.... oh well there's always october

I know lots of kids with around 1400 or more on the math/CR who had in the low to mid 600s on writing. 9-11 on essay, but killed on the multiple choice. So-I would not agree that the writing scores are "inflated".

hey that's me!!!! 1470 on math/cr... 660 writing :( 11 essay... or maybe 10?

I got a 12 on the essay in march, and missed 6 multiple choice questions. I got a 730 composite score, which seemed to me kind of a harsh curve.

1440 on first 2 sections (710 CR, 730M). I can never get a hang of writing MC (59/80). I got a 12 on my essay so it ended up being 650. Darn it... one more MC right and I would have broken 2100... GRRRR

1600 on first two sections but only 710 on writing. The good news is that it will be almost a nonfactor in college admissions for class of '10 at most places. I'm not sure how it can measure writing ability when two mistakes cost like 50 points! Also, sometimes the sentences are so awkwardly constructed that there appear to be multiple errors (perhaps not technically, but from a stylistic standpoint).

1480 on Math and Crit Reading... 700 on Writing

Now, that may sound like it brought me down, but it actually was my second best score! M:800 CR:680 W:700

I think the scoring is harsh. I took a PR class and they sent me the official scoring grid from College Board. According to that grid I should have received a 720, which would have given me a 2200!!!

my score was very even, 720 writing (even though my essay was awful), 710 math and 700 critical reading. i actually didnt think the writing was terribly hard, moreso critical reading.

1500 math/cr, 800 writing. The multiple choice isn't that hard if you study for it. I got a 12 on the essay and 2 mc's wrong, so I guess the curve isn't that harsh...

1500 math/cr as well. Seems to me like they put very little emphasis into the essay. I got an 8 on it, (inability to write well timed, teachers all think I'm a great writer on my papers and such) but only got one wrong on the scantron and still pulled a 770.

I understand... I sucked the essay up ( I honestly believe they did grade my handwriting or I would have gotten a 10; they gave me a 9 and it was a good essay) but I got a 760 overall... my math is normally my strong point, but I got a 720, since they cut so much out that every question you miss practically kills you. I didn't think I would do so well on the writing. I think I just read too many newspapers

I really sux at writing...
In may, I got 6 at essay, and got 22 (!) wrong at MC
its really terrible, while my other scores I think are good... 700 math and a projected 800 on CR in June.

It really looks bad: 800/700/480

Yeah, I agree with you. I didnt think my handwriting was that bad until I saw it online. I think the scanner made my handwriting look even worse. However, my essay was also a little short because I spend so much time thinking (I had one paragraph on the second page). Even though they claim they grade on substance not length, thats def a lie.

Same thing with the math. I got a 700 with 5 wrong, which made me mad b/c im almost sure I got all the questions in the omitted section right. They really should omit whichever section you do the worst on, but that will never happen.

im march i got 690 cr/math, 790 (11 essay) on writing

I got a 690 on new SAT writing, but I got a 790 on SAT II writing, so I thought that was pretty messed up =/

yeah dancingxelmo, the curve on the new SAT is WAY harsher than the SAT II writing curve.

740 writing section (12 essay). Because my other scores were below 700, I'm hoping this will carry some of the weight in college admissions.

Yeah it sucked.

Math 780
Reading 690
Writing 670

I thought writing was easy and reading was really hard. Especially after doing extremely well on the Blue Book's writing multiple choice, I was very disappointed.

8 Essay.
