SAT writing scores

I thought writing was tricky and wasn't confident on a few questions. I got lucky: 800 (80/12).

i only got 3 wrong out of 49 and a 9 on the essay and i only got a 720

in march i got a 12 essay but 700 total... bad multiple choice

Just a question, not meant to offend any people...

Is a 740 writing a pretty solid score for the less competitive Ivys? I'm think brown and cornell when I say less competitive.

madskier, 740 is more than fine. especially b/c writing will not be a huge factor in admissions, it is completely acceptable.

Math-640
Critical Reading-740
Writing-770

They grade the essays so poorly. I went off topic and left half a page blank, and still got a 12.

1570 M/CR
720 Writing

Yeah, it does lower it. But I don't really care seeing that writing won't be a factor in admissions for a couple years.

Are you serious? Why wouldn't they factor it in?

760 Writing, 610M/650CR here. Got an 11 on the essay and 3 MC wrong. The only section I studied for was math(...). IIRC I scored a 70 in W on the PSAT four years ago which was in the 99th percentile.

<<are you="" serious?="" why="" wouldn't="" they="" factor="" it="" in?="">></are>

Because it has never been out there before and it's accuracy of judging someone's writing skills is horrid.

The top colleges, for the most part, are either paying less attention to it our disregarding it entirely

I think for most colleges and universities who haven't made a formal statement about it (the majority), it will not be the main determinant like the math and reading, but if it is very good or even exceptional (say, 700+ or 750+), they will "take notice," so it might just give you another edge. I base this off of no real knowledge, but rather a logical assumption.

Math: 670
Verbal: 800
Writing: 740 (770 multiple choice...but only 8 in essay)

Doesn't an 8 on the essay bring it down a lot more than that??

No idea, but I thought 30 points was a pretty big blow.

So now it's a couple of years? Where did you hear this information?

math 740 cr 740 writing 720

6 essay (didn't finish.. bad time management on my part) but perfect score on multiple choice.

math-730
cr- 700
writing - 620...ugh, it stopped me from getting to the 2100 mark :(

800 on writing (80/12), but that's because i'm good at English and the essay topic matched well with some books i'd read
800 CR and 710 math

The essay destroyed me. I received a 10.
CR: 800
Writing: 740
Math: pretty atrocious

730 writing (70/11) damn MC
