Is it REALLY true that colleges (specifically ivies) put more focus on CR and MATH sections of the SAT?? and not the WR section? Also, do colleges see your 12 essay score?

I think most have equal emphasis

I think it’s relatively true but it’s not like they totally ignore it.
I would say a 800 CR / 600 M / 600 W looks a lot better than a 600 CR / 600 M / 800 W

Two in college and we were told in numerous college sessions that they relied on M and CR. These were mostly highly ranked schools. State schools seemed more numbers driven overall, but I can’t remember if they used WR (I think UNC mentioned using WR). A couple schools told us they looked at the WR section, but mostly the essay score - they expected to see that the essay score was consistent with the level of writing in the college app essays (i guess to make sure someone else didn’t write them). Many schools out and out said they did NOT use the writing but wanted it to be in the same general range as the other scores. i remember one guy asking if his WR 620 score would be a problem since his M and CR were in the 700-750 range. The college rep said that wouldn’t be a red flag, as long as the essay score was strong.

W790/12essay…so it still COUNTS and is taken into consideration?

depends on the college. for example, georgetown doesn’t take it into consideration.

damn georgetown…and vanderbilt…

do they completely neglect it when they get the score report from collegeboard? even if my intended major is in the direction of writing (linguistics)??
